thanks freezer
to add onto this, id like to say that i've done research into its specific specifications and how they compare to others. and one thing i can say for certain, is:
"the Macbook Neo is the perfect laptop for someone who has never used anything other than a phone before."
to clarify what i mean, i'd like to compare the £599 Macbook Neo (yes, this is sold for £599 pounds and 9 dollars, despite the fact that 9 dollars is roughly £447 pounds, making it more expensive in the UK) and a Macbook Pro from 2020 i found on eBay for £370.
[name:image.jpg]
comparison
to clarify, i'll be referring to the Macbook Neo as "neo" and the eBay listing Macbook as "pro".
Neo has better single-core processing which is good for web browsing and other similar lightweight tasks, but worse multi-core processing than Pro. Keep in mind that this does not mean Pro is worse at browsing than Neo
Pro has more CPU cores than the Neo, and does multi core processing better. This makes tasks like rendering content (videos, 3D, etc), running resource demanding programs and other heavy workloads run a LOT better on Pro.
Pro has 16GB of RAM, while Neo has 8GB. This won't affect the performance of a Neo out-the-box because no doubt there's going to be optimizations made (Apple are very good at this), but if you want to do anything intensive in the future, especially with multitasking, then you'll struggle (most common case where this difference is prominent is with gaming while listening to music and while in a Discord call)
Pro has more storage (512GB) than Neo (256GB), which is great if you want to download a lot of software and store a lot of files. Even in the Neo's use case, the extra storage is better because chances are, you'll never run out of storage with 512GB.

conclusion
you can definitely argue that the target audience of a Neo wouldn't care about the benefits of buying the Pro, but personally, if i was going to spend £599 on something then id want my money to give me the best value. and you should too.
do not buy a neo, even if owning something first hand seems appealing. your money is worth more than what Apple declares.

i second everything he's just said about the neo
@fridge2026-03-12 •
seeing people complaining about other people complaining about the new Macbook Neo
my opinion is that it's completely worth the price and it's a good investment... only if you want to buy brand new.
Macbooks last YEARS. like, a lot longer than a windows computer. you could buy a macbook from 10 years ago for less than a macbook neo, and get just as much value out of it, if not more.
if you don't consider the third party market then yes it's good but if you have an inkling of wits about you then i'd expect the world to maybe consider buying this in 8 years time and instead buy a macbook from 2015. it's simply just better value. the macbook neo is not the "budget option".

yesterday, i was playing Counter-Strike 2 with my friends. i was bored while we were waiting for a match, and saw two cases in my inventory from drops, so i decide, "hm... why not?"
after all, the last time i opened a case was over a year ago! so i deposited £4 into my account and bought the first key for a Kilowatt case for £1.80.
now, i want to preface this by saying that i was quite big on cases when I was younger. me and Vee would dream of the day when we'd win big, and we (mostly I) opened many cases hoping for that day. Vee was with me in this call when we were playing, and he was watching my screen share.
i opened the case, and watched the skins roll past. Devon made the comment "ooh look a red" because, when I first opened the case, a red skin showed up on the roll. i already accepted that as a sign of defeat; i consider myself a lucky man but the odds of seeing each skin on the roll is the same as the odds as opening it, so realistically, what are the chances?
the wheel slowed down over a few seconds, and what happened next can only be described as a blur of colours and emotions. with Vee and Devon watching my stream, they were the first to react. in my unfamiliarity of opening cases after not doing it for ages, i didn't even register exactly what had occurred until the wheel stopped and my prize for contributing to Valve's net profits was revealed to me.
when i saw the yellow come up on the wheel, my first thought was "yeah fat chance, it won't land". but then, it occurred to me that yellows ONLY appear on the wheel if you win it. there's no other circumstance where a rare, legendary item appears on the wheel.
i opened a knife.

Vee describes my reaction as "non-chalant" but in reality, i was so short for air from adrenaline that i couldn't react. it was insane. and it happened on a random monday night.
on the first case.
after not opening any for over a year.
wanna know the maddest thing? i owned this EXACT knife in 2025, before i sold my CS inventory for some cash. what are the odds of that, not only opening a knife but it being the exact same knife i owned then? insane.

fun fact, every time an image is uploaded to this website it's given a randomized name (e.g. 04493df316032b03.jpg).
the chances of a file having the same name are almost zero. there are 18 quintillion different file name possibilities.
